Case studies

Three jobs, start to finish.

What was wrong, what we actually did about it, and how it was left. The same approach applies whether it's a single blocked gully or a full drain replacement.

Sewer replacement · Belconnen

A 1970s earthenware sewer that kept blocking every winter.

The problem
Three blockages in eight months. The previous plumber jetted it each time and left. Our CCTV run found root intrusion through four cracked collars and a bellied section holding water.
What we did
We located and marked services, excavated the run by hand near the boundary trap, cut out the failed earthenware and re-laid the whole line in 100mm PVC on a compacted gravel bed with two new inspection points.
The outcome
Zero blockages since. Camera footage and as-laid measurements handed over for the property file, and the driveway re-poured to match.

Hot water changeover · Tuggeranong

No hot water on a Sunday, with a 30-year-old tank in the way.

The problem
A rusted-through storage unit dumping water down the side of the house. The old tank was hard-plumbed in copper with no isolation valve and a non-compliant tempering setup.
What we did
Isolated and drained the failed unit, cut it out, rebuilt the pipework with new isolation and a compliant tempering valve, and installed a 250L Vulcan Duomax sized to the household.
The outcome
Hot water back the same afternoon, unit registered for full manufacturer warranty, and the install photographed and certified.

Gas fitting · Weston Creek

A continuous flow install that had to pass first time.

The problem
A homeowner had bought a continuous flow unit online and needed a licensed gas fitter to size the line, install and certify — with a plumbing inspection already booked.
What we did
Sized and ran the new gas line, mounted and connected the unit, lagged the water pipework, then pressure tested the whole system on the manometer and held it before signing off.
The outcome
Passed inspection first go. Compliance certificate issued on the day with the manometer reading photographed as part of the record.
How a dig actually goes

Hole in. Hole gone.

The bit most people worry about is the mess. Here's the same job at four stages, from camera to finished concrete.

01

Locate before we dig

Camera and locator first. We mark the run so the hole is the size it needs to be — not the size of a guess.

02

Cut out the failure

The broken section comes out entirely. No patching over cracked collars or bellied pipe that will block again next winter.

03

Rebuild it properly

New PVC on a compacted bed, correct fall, risers concreted, inspection points brought to the surface and labelled.

04

Leave it better than we found it

Backfilled, compacted, and concrete re-poured and finished. You should not be able to tell where the hole was.
